NQAS Certification Support

National Quality Assurance Standards for public health facilities

NQAS is the national quality framework for public health facilities in India. Certsure helps district hospitals, community and primary health centres and urban health facilities prepare for state and national NQAS certification.

Standard status: National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) are developed by the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Certification is granted through the state and national assessment process; Certsure provides preparation support only. Official source โ†—

How Certsure helps with NQAS

Certsure Certification is a consultancy based in Lucknow, working with organisations across India. We help you understand the requirements, close the gaps and get ready for assessment โ€” gap analysis, documentation, implementation support, training, internal audits and support during the external audit. The certificate, licence, registration or report itself is granted by the relevant authority, accreditation board or independent auditor.

How NQAS is structured

NQAS assessments use department-wise checklists organised into eight areas of concern: service provision, patient rights, inputs, support services, clinical services, infection control, quality management and outcome. Each area is broken down into standards, measurable elements and checkpoints that assessors score by observation, staff interview, patient interview and record review.

What certification requires

Facilities first run internal assessments, close the gaps and then apply for state certification, followed by national certification. NHSRC guidance sets minimum scores for the facility overall, for each department or service package, for each area of concern and for patient satisfaction. Always check the current NHSRC/QPS guidelines for the exact thresholds that apply to your facility type.

How Certsure supports your facility

  1. Baseline internal assessment using the official NQAS checklists for your facility type
  2. Gap-closure plan with owners and dates for each department
  3. Documentation โ€” SOPs, work instructions, registers, formats and display material
  4. Training for medical officers, nursing staff and the facility quality team
  5. Quality improvement โ€” key performance indicators, patient satisfaction surveys and prescription/clinical audits
  6. Mock assessment before the state and national assessments

We also support related public-health quality initiatives such as Kayakalp and LaQshya where facilities are preparing for them alongside NQAS.
