FSSAI Licence & Registration

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India โ€” registration and licensing

Every food business in India needs FSSAI registration or a licence. Certsure helps food businesses in Lucknow and across Uttar Pradesh choose the right category, prepare documents, apply on FoSCoS and stay compliant afterwards.

Standard status: Food business registration and licences are issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and state food safety departments through the FoSCoS portal. Certsure provides application and compliance support only. Official source โ†—

How Certsure helps with FSSAI

Certsure Certification is a consultancy based in Lucknow, working with organisations across India. We help you understand the requirements, close the gaps and get ready for assessment โ€” gap analysis, documentation, implementation support, training, internal audits and support during the external audit. The certificate, licence, registration or report itself is granted by the relevant authority, accreditation board or independent auditor.

Registration or licence: which one do you need?

Type Generally applies to Issued by
Registration Food businesses with annual turnover up to โ‚น1.5 crore State registering authority
State licence Turnover above โ‚น1.5 crore and up to โ‚น50 crore State licensing authority
Central licence Turnover above โ‚น50 crore, and specified kinds of business (for example importers, exporters and e-commerce operators) FSSAI (central licensing authority)

These turnover thresholds apply from 1 April 2026 under FSSAI's revised criteria (earlier limits were โ‚น12 lakh and โ‚น20 crore). Some kinds of business have their own rules regardless of turnover, so we confirm your category on the FoSCoS portal before applying.
